Adam Baillie, 39, of Spring Way, Harrow, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 10 years for the kidnapping and sexual assault of an 11-year-old schoolgirl he did not know.
The terrifying incident took place on 19 April 2024 when Baillie grabbed the young girl as she was walking home from primary school in Harrow. He took her to his home and subjected her to a serious sexual assault.
Fortunately, the brave girl managed to escape and alerted neighbours, who quickly contacted the police. With their assistance, the girl was able to identify Baillie’s property, leading to his prompt arrest.
On 16 October 2024, Baillie was convicted at Harrow Crown Court. He was found guilty of kidnapping causing actual bodily harm as well as the sexual assault.
PC Georgia Devaney-Brighton, Sexual Offences Investigative Techniques Officer, said: “Today we achieved justice for this courageous girl and I hope the severity of the sentence can provide some comfort to her and her family. This was an appalling crime which shocked the local community. The victim showed remarkable bravery throughout the process. Her strength and cooperation were vital in securing the conviction. I want to thank her and her family for their trust and resilience during such a distressing time.”
