Armed police officers arrested a man in Sydenham after residents reported seeing two men riding a moped armed with knives. The incident took place on Sydenham Road, SE26, at 4:02 pm on Friday, 28 February.

The Metropolitan Police quickly deployed Armed Response Officers to the scene. Within 30 minutes, officers detained a male suspect on suspicion of carrying an offensive weapon. The man was taken into police custody and remains there as investigations continue.

A police spokesperson stated: “Police were called to Sydenham Road, SE26, at 16:02hrs on Friday, 28, following reports of two people on a moped carrying knives. Armed Response Officers attended and arrested a man within 30 minutes on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody, and enquiries are ongoing.”

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Authorities have reassured the public as the investigation into the incident continues.
