A man in his 30s was left fighting for his life following a brutal late-night brawl in Portsmouth. The violent assault took place near the Festing Pub on Festing Road, prompting a police investigation as officers hunt a gang believed to be responsible.
The incident occurred just before midnight on Saturday 18 August, with the fight breaking out between 11.15pm and 11.35pm. When police arrived at the scene, the victim had already sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Both groups involved in the clash had fled before police arrived. Hampshire Constabulary has since released CCTV images in an effort to identify the men connected to the attack.
Detective Constable Sam Jones of Fratton CID said, “The victim has sustained serious and potentially life-changing injuries. This happened in a busy area with plenty of people around, and we believe several witnesses left before we arrived. We need to find these men and anyone with information to help piece together what happened.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the attack or who recognises anyone in the released images to come forward. Witnesses can contact Hampshire Constabulary on 101, quoting reference 44180313770, or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
