A Mercedes smashed into the iconic Blackheath tea hut on Goffers Road near Greenwich Park tonight, causing chaos and road closures across the area.
The beloved tea hut, a local hotspot for emergency workers, cabbies, and Londoners for over 100 years, was demolished after the unoccupied vehicle ploughed through it at speed.
Police arrived quickly and are now investigating the crash, which has caused thousands of pounds in damages.
Multiple emergency teams rushed to the scene to free those involved. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt in the smash-up.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 7:03pm reporting a car had collided with the tea hut on Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath. We sent three ambulances and treated three people at the scene before taking them to hospital.”
Local buses have been diverted, and road closures remain in place as emergency teams continue their work. Commuters are advised to expect delays as investigations and clean-up efforts continue through the night.
