A determined BBC South East crew embarked on a gruelling 61-mile walk across Kent and Sussex to raise funds for Children in Need. The team set off from Gravesend’s Town Pier on Monday, braving five days of tough terrain as part of the nationwide 1 pier to pier challenge.

The walkers passed through quiet, remote countryside, visiting key locations such as Tunbridge Wells, Mayfield, and Heathfield. Along the route, they tackled the famous Cuckoo Trail before reaching their grand finale at 1 Pier, proudly completing their mission.

Their hard work paid off significantly. The annual BBC One Children in Need appeal show, a three-hour TV special, announced an impressive total of £35,273,167 raised nationwide. This represents a major boost for the charity’s vital work supporting disadvantaged children.

Those interested in joining the movement and helping Children in Need can find out more through official channels.
