A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after stabbing his partner to death in their Birmingham home. Kinga Roskinska, aged 38, died on 14 March following an attack at the couple’s flat on Oxhill Road.

Pawel Ondycz, 50, was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on 21 December. Paramedics and police discovered Kinga with a stab wound to her leg, but she passed away shortly afterwards.

Disturbing details have emerged about the case. Instead of immediately calling emergency services, Ondycz contacted friends for assistance, claiming his English was not good enough to call 999. He then provided false information to the emergency services, stating that Kinga had taken her own life due to jealousy over another woman.

During the investigation, authorities recovered blood-stained clothing and knives from the flat. Ondycz later admitted to a friend via text message that he had killed Kinga.

Her family paid tribute, saying: “Kinga has left behind three children. A mother’s love can never be replaced. We are devastated and supporting the children through this tragedy. Losing a sister and mother so young is traumatic.”

They added, “We always believed Kinga would never take her own life. We are relieved Ondycz admitted responsibility. This Christmas will be the hardest without her. An empty place will be felt at the table. She will never see her children grow up or become a grandmother. We have lost a much-loved sister, mother, and friend.”

Detective Sergeant Ian Wilkins commented on the case, stating: “Phone records and witness interviews proved Kinga did not harm herself. Ondycz lied to cover the truth. The couple were together for two years, during which Ondycz had been violent towards Kinga.”

He added, “While this sentence won’t bring Kinga back, we hope it eases some pain for her loved ones.”

Authorities are urging the public to report any signs of abuse and encourage potential abusers to reconsider their behaviour. Support services are available to assist victims and those at risk. Find local support here: Support Services.
