A massive search operation has been launched in the English Channel near Hastings, East Sussex, after a diver went missing early on Saturday afternoon.

Rescue teams, including the Coastguard and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), are currently on high alert to locate the missing individual.

The alarm was raised at approximately 1:25 PM, prompting a swift emergency response. The Coastguard helicopter from Lydd was seen circling near a vessel involved in the diving expedition. At the same time, Dungeness RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat is actively combing the waters alongside other rescue units.

“A search for a missing diver, involving the RNLI, Coastguard helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft, plus vessels, is ongoing off Hastings,” confirmed an HM Coastguard spokesperson.

The search is focused just a few miles off the Hastings coast, where the diver was last seen. Both air and sea units are thoroughly scouring the area in hopes of a breakthrough.

Authorities are coordinating closely with nearby vessels and have urged anyone with information to come forward. Local residents and boaters have been asked to remain vigilant and report any unusual sightings to the Coastguard immediately.
