A tragic crash on Hendon Way, NW4 near Brent Cross Flyover, claimed the life of 22-year-old Maria Carolina Do Nascimento Migel in the early hours of the morning. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 3.45am when the car she was travelling in collided with another vehicle.
Police officers on patrol in a marked car attempted to stop a vehicle near Hendon Way, NW2, but the driver ignored the signal and sped away. No police chase ensued. Shortly after, the same car was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Passengers in the fleeing car then ran from the scene.
The London Ambulance Service arrived promptly, but despite their efforts, Maria Carolina Do Nascimento Migel was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed of the tragic loss. The driver of the other vehicle sustained a head injury but is reported to be in stable condition.
Four men have been arrested in connection with the incident. Two 29-year-olds and a 21-year-old were arrested on December 25 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. A 32-year-old man was arrested on December 27 on similar charges. All four suspects have been bailed pending ongoing inquiries.
Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. Those with information are encouraged to contact the police by calling 101 or tweeting @MetCC quoting CAD933/25Dec. Alternatively, anonymous information can be provided to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards and the Independent Office for Police Conduct have been notified as investigations continue into the tragic incident.
