Leicestershire Police have arrested and charged a 50-year-old man after a series of house fires in Ashby on Friday, 21 November. The incidents caused significant concern in the local community during a frightening morning.

The suspect is facing charges of dangerous driving and three counts of arson with intent to endanger life. The fires occurred at three connected locations: Holywell Avenue, Prestop Drive, and Clifton Drive.

Emergency services responded promptly, and three people were hospitalised as a result of the fires. Two teenagers and a woman were taken to hospital, with one teenager suffering burns and smoke inhalation. The other two individuals were treated for smoke inhalation. Fortunately, none of the injuries sustained are life-threatening or life-changing.

The man remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 November.
