A Hastings taxi driver has been charged with rape after a woman in her 30s was attacked inside her own home. The incident took place on the night of April 12, when the victim told Sussex Police that the man drove her home, then followed her inside and assaulted her.
Sussex Police launched an immediate investigation after the victim came forward on April 13. Specialist safeguarding officers provided urgent support, and the suspect was identified and arrested the same day.
Abdulhamid Alammar, 34, from Muriel Way, St Leonards-on-Sea, now faces charges of rape and sexual assault by penetration related to the April 12 attack. He also faces an additional sexual assault charge from a separate complaint made in 2023.
Alammar remains in custody ahead of his court appearance, which is scheduled for May 13. The venue for the hearing has not yet been confirmed.
Detective Inspector Carol Shoesmith of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigation Unit said: “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure all victims of rape and sexual assault are supported and receive the justice they deserve. Please report any crimes to us online, via 101, or dial 999 in an emergency. You will be heard, believed and supported.”
