A busy street in Portsmouth was closed after a woman was hit and trapped under a bus, prompting a large emergency response.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue were called to Park Lane shortly after 11.30pm on Saturday, January 29. Firefighters deployed two fire engines, a rescue tender, and an officer to free the woman from beneath the bus.
Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service are currently providing care for the victim.
Hampshire Police have closed several nearby roads, including St Georges Road, Gunwharf Road, Park Road, Burnaby Road, and Ordnance Row, restricting access to both vehicles and pedestrians.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said, “One person has been released from under the bus by firefighters and South Central Ambulance Service. The person has now been handed into the care of SCAS. We are unable to release any further details at this time.”
Officers arrived within minutes of the alert at 11.36pm and remain on site as investigations continue.
The road closures are causing delays across the area, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes until further notice.
