A massive fire erupted at Hatcham Park Mews, New Cross, this afternoon, triggering a significant emergency operation. The London Fire Brigade confirmed that 15 fire engines and approximately 100 firefighters were deployed to control the blaze.

The first emergency call was received at 4.27pm, with control officers handling at least eight separate calls reporting the fire. Fire crews from New Cross, Peckham, Deptford, and other nearby stations were rapidly dispatched to the scene.

The fire has spread to the exterior balconies on the first, second, and third floors of the residential block. Residents have been instructed to keep windows and doors tightly closed due to the presence of heavy smoke. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson stated: “Crews remain at the scene of a fire in a block of flats in Hatcham Park Mews, New Cross. We are asking residents to avoid the area and to keep windows and doors closed while firefighters work to bring the blaze under control.”

Traffic disruptions are ongoing as roads around Hatcham Park Mews have been closed to allow emergency services to operate safely. Bus routes passing through the area are expected to experience delays.
