The National Lottery is set for its biggest revamp in history as operator Allwyn reveals a turbocharged Lotto and the UK debut of the colossal Powerball game.
Lotto Gets a Massive Upgrade From June
From 7 June, Lotto players will pay the usual £2 for a ticket but get double the chances to win in a brand-new two-round draw format. This change applies to both Wednesday and Saturday draws, without changing the classic ball selection. Odds of landing any prize will nearly double, improving from 1 in 9.3 to 1 in 4.9. Millions are up for grabs too, with the number of annual millionaires expected to skyrocket from 140 to around 345. The first new-format tickets go on sale 7 June, with the debut draw on 10 June.
Powerball Lands in the UK This Summer – Jackpot Over £1 Billion!
Later this summer, the US lottery smash hit Powerball arrives in the UK for the first time ever. Brits can join Americans in the same colossal draws, chasing mind-blowing jackpots expected to top £1 billion. UK winners will receive prizes paid over 30 years. The rollout aims to raise an eye-watering £1 billion for UK good causes in five years, with more than 30% of ticket sales funnelled to charity.
Allwyn’s Boss Promises a Lottery Revolution
“Players get two chances of winning £1 million plus for the same £2,” said Allwyn CEO Andria Vidler. “Powerball will bring transformative jackpots to capture the nation’s imagination.”
With new tech upgrades in retail and digital, Allwyn expects these changes to boost player numbers and push good cause funding even higher. Currently, it raises around £33 million a week and aims to hit £60 million weekly by 2034. Keep your eyes peeled: June is when UK Lotto and Powerball shake up the lottery game like never before!
