Brutal Attack in South East Cornwall

A 50-year-old Romanian man has been locked up for 11 years after a savage rape in south east Cornwall. Sebastian Maier, once living in St Austell, was convicted at Truro Crown Court for raping and sexually assaulting a woman in September 2025. During the horrifying attack, Maier leapt on his victim and brutally raped her. The victim nearly choked during the violent ordeal.

Judge Slams ‘Serious Sexual Depravity’

The judge called the crime a case of “serious sexual depravity.” He was clear that Maier’s drunkenness was no excuse for the violent assault.

Deportation After Prison Sentence

Maier will be deported back to Romania once he serves two-thirds of his prison term. The sentence sends a strong message that such vile acts will not be tolerated in Cornwall or the UK.
