Ex-Cop Wissem Bonafia Convicted in Shocking Child Sex Crime Case
Police Raid Uncovers Disturbing Files
Wissem Bonafia, 48, a former Northamptonshire special constable, has been convicted of a string of horrific sexual offences against children and young victims. The alarm was raised in 2020 when police received a tip-off about illegal images stored by Bonafia. In August that year, cops raided his Barton Seagrave home and seized numerous gadgets. The haul included vile indecent images and videos of girls aged from under 10 up to 17—many taken by Bonafia himself—dating back to 2014 through 2019.
Grim Details Emerge in Lengthy Trial
Bonafia faced a battery of charges, including:
- Six counts of raping a woman aged 16 or over
- One count of assault by penetration
- Multiple counts of assault causing actual bodily harm
- Several counts of making and taking indecent images of children
- Inciting a 13-15-year-old girl to sexual activity
- Engaging in sexual communication with a child
- Attempting to pervert the course of justice
During his 2026 trial, Bonafia admitted some charges but denied others. After an intense two-week hearing, he was found guilty of 12 additional offences but cleared of a few rape and other charges.
Special Constable Resigned Before Facing Justice
Bonafia quit his police role in November 2021, ahead of a gross misconduct hearing in February 2023. The tribunal ruled that had he still been serving, he would have been instantly dismissed. This scandal uncovers a sick betrayal by a once-trusted officer, with the full horror of Bonafia’s crimes only now coming to light after years of police work.
