Radio Star Scott Mills Grilled by Police Over Historic Sex Claims
Radio DJ Scott Mills faced a police grilling under caution back in 2018 over disturbing historic sexual offence allegations involving a teenage boy.
Claims From the Late 1990s Rock BBC Favourite
The allegations date back to between 1997 and 2000. The Met launched an investigation in December 2016 after another police force referred the case. A man believed to be Mills, then in his 40s, was questioned under caution in July 2018.
Despite the serious nature of the claims, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) ruled in 2019 that there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him. The case was subsequently dropped.
Scott Mills Abruptly Leaves BBC Amid Conduct Probe
The BBC confirmed that Scott Mills has now left the corporation following unspecified allegations about his personal conduct. No further details have been revealed, leaving fans and colleagues baffled.
“In December 2016, the Met began an investigation following a referral from another police force. The investigation related to allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy. These were reported to have taken place between 1997 and 2000. As part of these enquiries, a man who was in his 40s at the time of the interview was questioned by police under caution in July 2018. A full file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, who determined the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges. Following this advice, the investigation was closed in May 2019.”
Scott Mills, a familiar voice on UK radio for years, now faces an uncertain future as details about his BBC exit remain tightly guarded.
