King’s US State Visit Will Go Ahead Despite Middle East Crisis
Buckingham Palace has confirmed King Charles III’s much-anticipated state visit to the United States will proceed as planned. The announcement comes amid calls from some quarters to delay or cancel the trip due to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Historic US Visit Set for Late April
The King and Queen will visit the US in late April, with exact dates to be revealed closer to the time. The royal couple have accepted an invitation from the US President to celebrate the deep historic ties and the modern partnership between the two nations.
“On the advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of the President of the United States, the King and Queen will undertake a state visit to the United States of America,” a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said. “Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.”
After America, King’s First Monarch Visit to Bermuda
Following the US trip, King Charles will head to Bermuda for his first official visit as monarch to a British Overseas Territory. Buckingham Palace says the visit will highlight the enduring ties between the UK and its overseas territories.
