Free Carrots at Asda Spark New Easter Bunny Craze
This Good Friday, Asda is handing out free loose carrots in 581 stores to celebrate a quirky new UK tradition: leaving a carrot out for the Easter Bunny on “Easter Eve.”
Nearly Half of Brits Now Play Easter Eve Carrot Ritual
Forget leaving out chocolate—almost 45% of UK households now leave carrots for the Easter Bunny. The craze has soared by 10% in just two years.
Youngsters lead the charge, with 22% of 18-to-29-year-olds taking part last year. And it’s no passing fad — 58% have kept the tradition alive for over five years.
Families even create cheeky evidence of the Bunny’s visit. Around 12% admit to nibbling carrots to fake bunny teeth marks, while 10% scatter carrot crumbs for added realism.
Asda’s ‘Easter Bunny Carrots’ and Kids’ Easter Fun
Asda has jumped on the bandwagon, rebranding carrot packs as ‘Easter Bunny Carrots’. They’ve also rolled out Easter-themed veggie deals on parsnips and potatoes, with prices slashed to 30p each or 5 for £1 from 31 March to 6 April.
On Friday 3 April, families can nab a free carrot (while stocks last) for their Easter Eve rituals. Plus, kids can enjoy a free Easter Bunny hunt in-store, spotting hidden Bunny letters during their shop.
An Asda spokesperson said: “The new-age tradition of leaving a carrot out for the Easter Bunny offers a simple, accessible way for families to build anticipation for a special Easter Sunday. And, unlike reindeer, rabbits genuinely love carrots, making the tradition surprisingly logical!”
