Hamza Zeyadi, 47, with no fixed address, has been locked up for a string of thefts and carrying a knife in public. The Reading man pleaded guilty at Reading Magistrates’ Court on 23 February to multiple charges, including shoplifting, stealing from a pensioner, handling stolen goods, and threatening behaviour.
52 Weeks Behind Bars for Multiple Crimes
Zeyadi received a 52-week prison sentence following a spree of brazen crimes across Reading. Highlights of his offending include:
- Stealing money from a woman in her 70s at a cash point on Erleigh Road, 25 November 2025, 9:30pm
- Pinching a wallet from a vehicle on Suffolk Road on 13 December 2025 at 4am and using the stolen bank cards
- Snatching £40 worth of booze on Deacon Way, Tilehurst, 2 January 2026, 8:50pm
- Shoplifting £23.65 worth of food from Tesco Express, Crown Colonnade, the same evening
- Stealing £20 of alcohol and food from Co-Op on Oxford Road, 4 February 2026, 8:50pm
- Found carrying a 20.5cm kitchen knife late on 19 February 2026, leading to arrest
Swift Justice for Knife and Theft Offences
Police arrested Zeyadi on the spot after spotting the large kitchen knife. His criminal antics spanned street thefts and aggressive shoplifting. The courts have now dealt with him firmly, sending a message that such behaviour won’t be tolerated in Reading’s streets.
