Serial shoplifter caught red-handed
Muhammad Chaudhry, 25, homeless and on the wrong side of the law, has been locked up for six months after a spree of booze thefts at Waitrose in Twyford.
The Reading Magistrates’ Court sentenced Chaudhry on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, confirming his string of crimes that rattled the local community.
Thief strikes again mere hours after sentencing
Chaudhry admitted guilt for eight counts of stealing alcohol between December 2025 and February 2026. Caught in the act on 9 February by a vigilant officer at Twyford train station, he initially scored a 16-week suspended sentence.
But the story doesn’t end there. Shockingly, within hours of leaving court, Chaudhry was back at Waitrose, swiping goods once more. Store detectives detained him, leading to his swift rearrest.
Police refuse to tolerate repeat offending
“Muhammad Chaudhry has demonstrated a pattern of behaviour that causes significant harm to retailers and the local community,” said PC Dzhuli Bogdanova from Wokingham Neighbourhood policing.
“Even after being sentenced for multiple shoplifting offences, he returned to offending straight away. Our officers acted swiftly to arrest him again, and we will not hesitate to pursue further action against those who repeatedly ignore the law.”
With this six-month prison term, authorities hope to end Chaudhry’s criminal antics. The message is clear: repeat shoplifters, beware, police are watching.
