A brazen burglar who hit two Canterbury homes in less than 24 hours has been slapped with a hefty jail term.
Double Burglary Spree Ends in Arrest
James Henson, 34, kicked off his crime spree just after 1pm on 4 January 2026 when he broke into a home on St. Mary’s Street. Caught in the act by a resident, he fled on foot.
Not done yet, Henson struck again the very next day at around 4pm on London Road, stealing bank cards, a mobile phone, and other valuables.
Quick Police Action Nets Suspect and Stolen Goods
Police wasted no time. On 6 January, officers arrested Henson and linked him to both break-ins. Stolen items, including a laptop, were recovered from his home on Martyrs’ Field Road.
He was charged the following day.
Five Years in Prison: Canary Well and Truly Caught
At Canterbury Crown Court, Henson pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and handling stolen goods. On 11 March, he was sentenced to five years behind bars.
Detective Constable Daniel Moles said: “Henson’s crimes had a big impact on his victims. I’m pleased he’s now off the streets. Everyone deserves to feel safe at home. The sentence reflects how serious his actions were and protects others from his offending.”
“We’re dedicated to tackling crimes like this. When someone reports a break-in, we act fast to catch those responsible and bring them to justice.”
