Armed cops sparked panic outside a Calne school in Wiltshire before swooping on a man, police confirmed.

Firearms officers staged at Calne Leisure Centre, close to Kingsbury Green Academy, after reports of a man brandishing a weapon. Wiltshire Police revealed the drama was tied to a domestic dispute at a nearby home on Wednesday afternoon (25 March).
“Due to reports that a man had been seen with a weapon, armed officers responded… the nearest location for their rendezvous point was Calne Leisure Centre, near to Kingsbury Green Academy,” said a spokesperson.
Parents and Locals Left Fearing the Worst
The heavy police presence just after school pick-up rattled locals, parents, and kids alike. Social media buzzed with concern and questions.
“Please be reassured that the incident was not related in any way to the school or leisure centre,” the spokesperson added.
Suspect Arrested, Then Released
