Ex-Met Police Special Constable Jailed for 32 Years Over Shocking Child Rape
A former Metropolitan Police special constable has been sentenced to 24 years behind bars for multiple sex offences, including the brutal rape of a child.
Years of Horrific Abuse Uncovered
James Bubb, who now goes by Gwyn Samuels, subjected a victim to relentless sexual assaults starting from when she was just 12 years old. The abuse continued until she turned 18—one attack even took place in public just before her 13th birthday.
On Friday at Aylesbury Crown Court, Samuels was handed a total sentence of 32 years: 24 years in prison plus an eight-year extended licence period.
Two Victims, Two Terrifying Tales
- A jury found Samuels guilty of raping a child under 13, sexual activity with a child, and two counts of assault by penetration.
- While acquitted of some charges for the first victim, Samuels was convicted of raping a second woman.
The second victim met Samuels online, after he posed as a 16-year-old girl. Their relationship, marked by manipulation and control, lasted off and on from 2018 to 2023. She revealed how Samuels used his knowledge of BDSM and police training tactics to dominate her.
Abuse Fueled by Police Power
Samuels joined the Metropolitan Police as a special constable in 2020. The first victim said he frequently bragged about his police powers, which he then used to intimidate and control his victims.
“The control, the power he got, it sure as hell wasn’t consensual,” the second victim told police.
