Firefighters raced to a flaming house on Victoria Hill Road in Swanley yesterday afternoon. The fire erupted around 3pm, sending thick smoke billowing and sparking panic among nearby residents.

Lithium-Ion Battery Blamed for Fire

Kent Fire and Rescue Service say the blaze likely started from a lithium-ion battery charging inside the home.

“Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a house fire in Victoria Hill Road in Swanley,” a spokesperson said. “Two fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.” “Two people were handed into the care of SECAmb paramedics, suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.” “The cause is believed to be from a lithium-ion battery on charge.”

Fire Fully Extinguished Within an Hour

Crews had the fire under control and fully put out by 4pm, preventing further damage to the property.
