Man Jailed for 11 Years After Snatching and Assaulting 5-Year-Old in Birmingham

A chilling abduction rocked Birmingham when Mohammed Abdulraziq grabbed a five-year-old girl from outside her home and dragged her into a nearby house. The terrifying attack unfolded on 30 March, leaving the community shaken.

High as a Kite on Drugs and Beer During Attack

At Birmingham Crown Court, it emerged Abdulraziq was heavily intoxicated during the assault. Judge Kerry Maylin revealed he downed three cans of beer and smoked two joints of Mamba, a harmful synthetic cannabis. Before snatching the girl, he made disturbing, sexualised comments to her mother.

Heroic Rescue Saves Young Victim

The girl’s desperate mother and a friend frantically searched after she disappeared. When they heard her cries from inside the locked house, the mother tried smashing a window with a wooden board. A friend climbed in but was punched by Abdulraziq, who slammed the door shut again. Luckily, two bystanders heard the chaos, forced entry, and held the attacker until police arrived.

Justice Delivered: Predator Locked Up

In September 2025, Abdulraziq was convicted of false imprisonment, intending to commit a sexual offence, sexual assault on a child under 13, and assault on a woman. Judge Maylin slammed him as a “predatory individual” and extended his licence by four years, flagging a serious ongoing risk, especially to kids.

“He was a predatory individual who took a young girl off the street and into his house,” said Detective Sergeant Nicky Simms.

“The victim was a little girl happily playing in the street, whose cries of distress will haunt her mother forever,” added Judge Maylin.

The victim’s mother delivered a poignant impact statement, revealing the lifelong scars the ordeal has left on both herself and her daughter.
