Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue quickly deployed six engines from Bolton, Farnworth, Atherton, and Bolton North stations. An aerial appliance and a high-volume pump also joined the frantic effort. Crews faced intense flames roaring from a massive heap of burning scrap.

“Crews have been working hard through the night to bring the fire under control and stop it spreading,” said a fire service spokesperson. “They used handheld jets and a ground monitor to contain the flames. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported.”

Smoke Blankets Area – Residents Told to Stay Indoors

The fire is still burning, with firefighters on site making the industrial estate safe. Support teams from Greater Manchester Police, the Environment Agency, and Bolton Council are helping manage the scene.

Due to thick smoke, locals have been urged to keep windows and doors shut and steer clear of the area. Road closures are in place as officials work around the clock.
