Police Shut Down Suspected Brothel in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter
West Midlands Police have closed a suspected brothel in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter after a lengthy, undercover investigation.
‘Annabels’ on Hockley Hill Raided
The Birmingham Serious Organised Crime and Exploitation Team (SOCEX) targeted an industrial unit called “Annabels” on Hockley Hill. The unit was converted into 12 bedrooms, each with en-suite showers, and was believed to be operating as an indoor sex work venue.
After months of intelligence gathering, officers teamed up with the landlord to reclaim the property and shut down the operation.
Police Warn of Ongoing Crackdown on Illegal Sex Work
PC Stuart Hurley, SOCEX: “Our team works hard to investigate all reports of illegal sex work – and we’ve been determined to take action at this location. We close premises like this as we aim to protect people being exploited within them, and the associated harm these venues can bring to the local community.”
The operation sends a clear message: West Midlands Police are cracking down hard on illegal brothels to safeguard vulnerable individuals and keep communities safe.
