Bolton Mum Admits Lying About Rape Claims Against 10 Men

A Bolton mother has confessed to making up rape allegations against ten innocent men. The judge slammed her deception as a “wicked pack of lies.” Her false claims plunged the accused into hours of police custody and months of torment.

Innocent Men Endured Months of Police Investigation

At Bolton Crown Court, prosecutors revealed some men were held for hours, while others stayed on bail or under investigation for months. None faced charges. Some had consensual sex with Stacy Sharples; others had no contact whatsoever.

In a bizarre twist, one cleared man bumped into Sharples on the street. She fled into a chip shop, dialled 999, and falsely accused him of threatening to kill her. When he reminded her police were investigating her, Sharples smirked: “They’re not pressing charges. I’ve got away with it. Yet again.”

Taxpayers Hit With £120,000 Bill Over Fake Claims

Sharples pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice. Authorities say her lies cost the public around £120,000. Originally charged with 19 counts, only 10 were pursued—showcasing the scale of her “overall criminality,” the judge said.

Judge Slams “Wicked Pack of Lies,” Victims Speak Out

Four of the men attended the sentencing. Judge Nicholas Clarke KC told the courtroom their lives had been “blighted by unfortunate allegations… none of which are true at all.”

“Only belatedly by her pleas has she now acknowledged that it was all a wicked pack of lies,” added the judge.

Sharples’ lawyer admitted there was “no satisfactory explanation” for her actions but mentioned ongoing concerns about her mental health and intellect.
