Two criminals are behind bars after firing shots at a home in Stockton. Liam Hope and Rachel McNamara unleashed gunfire at an Alder Road property just after midnight on Wednesday, 4 June 2025.

Teesside Crown Court Sends a Strong Message

On Friday, 6 March, the duo faced Teesside Crown Court. A jury convicted them of firearm possession with intent to endanger life. Hope, 34, from Rowan Road, Stockton, copped 14 years plus three years on extended licence. McNamara, 33, from Belle Vue Court, Norton, received 13 years behind bars.

Gun Fired Directly at Occupied Home

The court heard a working slam gun was discharged while people were inside the property. CCTV footage revealed the pair arriving on a bike and cycling up the driveway. They took a path to the side door before the gunshot rang out. They then fled the scene.

Later that day, police spotted Hope carrying a suspected firearm near Bishopton Road, coming in and out of a property with McNamara. Officers arrested them both, and a search uncovered the grey tracksuit Hope wore during the incident.

Police Praise Community Help

“Despite the firearm not being reported or recovered, we linked Hope’s public weapon sighting to the shootout,” said Detective Constable Suzy Garbutt from Stockton CID. “Firearms are terrifying and dangerous. Thanks to the public’s support, we cracked this case. We urge anyone aware of gun crimes or suspicious activity to report it immediately.”
