Met Taskforce Cop Faces Court Over Rape Charge

PC James Brown, a serving officer with the Met Taskforce, is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 March. He has been charged with one count of rape.

Alleged Incident Took Place Off Duty in Southwark

The alleged attack is said to have occurred on 30 January 2025 while PC Brown was off duty in Southwark.

Investigation Leads to Arrest and Suspension

  • Brown was arrested on 2 April 2025.
  • He was released on bail pending further inquiries.
  • He was officially charged with rape on 5 February.
  • He was immediately suspended from duty following the charge.
  • The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards is handling the case.
