BREAKING: Police Federation CEO Mukund Krishna Arrested in Major Fraud Probe
City of London Police Launch Sweeping Fraud Investigation
Shockwaves hit the Police Federation of England and Wales as three men, including CEO Mukund Krishna, were arrested in a major fraud inquiry. The City of London Police’s Domestic Corruption Unit swooped on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, after a year-long probe into alleged financial wrongdoing within the Federation.
Warrants were executed at properties across Wales, Somerset, London, and Surrey, plus a raid on the Federation’s national HQ in Leatherhead.
Operation Kuat Targets Fraud by Abuse of Position
Detective Superintendent James Halkett confirmed the arrests were on suspicion of fraud by abuse of position under Section 4 of the Fraud Act 2006. He said:
“This has been a significant investigation into fraud allegations connected to the national Police Federation of England and Wales.”
“Searches and arrests took place simultaneously across multiple locations as part of this complex, ongoing probe.”
High-Profile Arrests Shake Up Police Federation
- Mukund Krishna, 46, Surrey – Police Federation CEO and former management consultant
- 51-year-old man from Wales – Member of the Federation’s national board
- 55-year-old man from Bristol – Also on the Federation’s national board
All three remain under investigation with no charges yet filed. The Federation represents around 130,000 officers across England and Wales, working as a statutory staff association rather than a traditional union.
Krishna’s pay package has drawn public ire, revealing a salary of £342,000 plus bonuses and pension contributions, totaling £701,100 annually—more than double the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s salary.
Controversy Mounts Amid Pay Rise Demands and Court Rulings
The arrests come a day after the Federation demanded a minimum 7% pay rise to boost sagging morale and recruitment. Krishna has also been criticised following a February High Court ruling that found his suspension of two Federation officials unlawful, sparking calls for his resignation.
This latest scandal adds to ongoing financial rows, including past investigations into Federation fund misuse and recent convictions over personal theft of Federation money.
Labour MP Jonathan Hinder, ex-police inspector, broke the news on social media before midday, highlighting Federation finances and leadership pay.
Investigation Continues – Public Asked to Come Forward
