Keir Starmer Condemns Iran’s Missile Strikes After Deadly US-Israeli Attacks

Starmer and European Leaders Slam Iran’s Missile Barrage

Sir Keir Starmer has blasted Iran’s missile attacks “in the strongest terms,” alongside France’s Emmanuel Macron and Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The trio called for calm amid skyrocketing tensions and made clear Britain had no hand in recent US-Israeli strikes on Tehran.

The leaders issued a firm joint statement: “Iran must refrain from indiscriminate military strikes. We urge the Iranian leadership to seek a negotiated solution. Ultimately, the Iranian people must be allowed to determine their future.”

This came after an emergency Cobra meeting at Downing Street chaired by Starmer, with the UN Security Council set to discuss the crisis later today. Starmer emphasised Britain’s innocence in the US-Israeli attacks but kept up the heat on Tehran, calling the regime “utterly abhorrent.” RAF jets are now on high alert, protecting UK interests across the region.

Starmer Warns of Threat to UK and Calls for Nuclear Weapon Ban

The Labour leader raised the alarm over the Iranian regime’s “direct threat” to dissidents and the Jewish community in the UK. Revelations surfaced that Tehran supported over 20 violent attacks on British soil last year alone.

Starmer declared: “They must never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.”

UK nationals in parts of the Middle East have been urged to “shelter in place” as missile exchanges rage on. Security measures at British bases across the region have been ramped up to the highest level.

UK Politicians Clash Over How to Handle the Iran Crisis

  • Conservative Kemi Badenoch backed the US-Israeli strikes, calling Iran a “vile regime” threatening the UK and its citizens.
  • Reform UK’s Nigel Farage demanded Starmer allow US use of British bases for more attacks, urging: “The PM needs to back the Americans in this vital fight against Iran!”
  • Green Party’s Zack Polanski slammed the strikes as “illegal,” labelling the US and Israel “rogue states” and calling for severing UK ties.
  • Liberal Democrat Sir Ed Davey warned against future UK support for unilateral US strikes, saying they would “only unleash more bloodshed.”

Missile Strikes Rock Israel and US Bases in Retaliation

Iran launched a missile barrage targeting Israel’s major cities including Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem. Tehran’s military declared all US “bases, resources and assets” as fair game after crippling hits on the US Fifth Fleet HQ in Bahrain.

The Iranian assaults also struck US infrastructure in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Explosions shook Dubai, including at the luxury Fairmont The Palm Hotel, while Jordan intercepted two ballistic missiles.

Amid the chaos, speculation swirled over the fate of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran’s Foreign Ministry insists both he and the president remain “safe and sound.”
