Wellbeing influencer Gabriela Martins Santos de Moura, 31, has tragically died after suffering a cardiac arrest during fertility treatment in Brazil. The devastating event took place on 17 February at a human reproduction clinic, ending the life of a young woman who had long dreamed of becoming a mother.
Cardiac Arrest Strikes During Fertility Procedure
Gabriela collapsed from cardiorespiratory arrest in the middle of an assisted reproduction procedure, though reports are unclear if it was IVF or egg retrieval. She was rushed to hospital and placed in intensive care, where she fought for her life for eight days. Doctors ultimately confirmed she was brain dead.
Family Grieves but Chooses Organ Donation
The heartache came a day after Gabriela and her husband, orthopaedic surgeon Samuel Moura, celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary. The couple had battled infertility for years.
“It is with immense sadness that we communicate the passing of our Gabriela, whose brain death was confirmed today by the medical team. At this moment of pain, we are comforted to know that her love and generosity will remain alive through the decision to proceed with organ donation, a gesture of immense greatness that will bring hope and life to other people, just as she was.”
Fans and Friends Left in Shock
Gabriela, originally from Teresina, Piaui, was a beloved wellbeing influencer with a strong following. A memorial service was held at Santa Rita de Cassia Church, where mourners paid their respects following the tragic news.
