Repeat Shoplifter Finally Caged After Relentless Raids
Tendai Dyirakumunda, 41, has been locked up for 56 weeks at Northampton Magistrates’ Court after ignoring a suspended sentence and racking up dozens of thefts. Homeless and determined, he hit the same shops time and again – until the law caught up with him.
Ignored Suspended Sentence, Racked Up 19 More Thefts
Dyirakumunda was first caught stealing vinyl records from HMV on Princes Walk, earning an 18-week sentence suspended for 12 months plus a £500 compensation order back in December 2025. But just days later, he was back to his old tricks.
Hit the Same Shops Over and Over Again
- Between December 14 and 15, he swiped booze and chocolates worth £433 from M&S at a BP fuel station on Abington Avenue.
- Between December 19 and January 31, he struck 17 times at the One Stop Shop on Stanhope Road, nicking over £3,000 worth of alcohol and meat products.
In total, he pleaded guilty to 19 new theft charges earlier this year.
Justice Served: Jail Time and £3,576 Compensation
Magistrates handed Dyirakumunda consecutive two-week jail terms for each offence, activating his suspended sentence to total 56 weeks behind bars. He’s also been ordered to pay £3,576.90 in compensation.
After being given a second chance, Dyirakumunda’s refusal to quit the criminal life finally landed him where he belongs – behind bars.
