Shoplifter Caught Red-Handed After 26 Thefts
Chloe Hemmings, 35, from St Leonards, has finally been nailed for a spree of shoplifting. She pleaded guilty to 26 theft offences and now faces a tough two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Tagged for Trouble: Hemmings Banned from Stores
Brighton & Hove Magistrates’ Court didn’t hold back on 19 February 2026. Hemmings was slapped with a strict curfew and must wear a location-monitoring tag for 12 months. Plus, she’s banned from entering any shops that have previously issued banning notices.
One ban hits especially hard. Hemmings must stay at least 30 metres away from the Co-Op on Bohemia Road in Hastings — a local shop she targeted repeatedly.
Thief’s Moves Tracked by Sharp-Eyed Staff
“What she did not anticipate was the vigilance of staff who reported each incident and provided clear evidence of the offences,” said PC Cloake, the investigating officer.
The relentless watchfulness of shop workers finally caught Hemmings out, ending her retail raids at last.
