A massive manhunt is underway for Daniel Boakye, aka rapper DSAVV, who pulled off a daring escape from University Hospital Lewisham on February 15.
Police Hunt Rapper After Hospital Breakout
Boakye, 21, fled from officers at around 3pm, sparking a tense chase inside the hospital. Despite a full-on pursuit, cops lost him before he vanished without a trace. This wasn’t his first escape attempt – just days earlier, he had broken free after being arrested at a Thamesmead address.
New Single Mocks Police Hunt
Not long after his getaway, DSAVV dropped a cheeky new track titled ‘The Race’ on February 23. The single is packed with taunts aimed squarely at police chasing him. Boakye raps, “catch me if you can” and boasts, “I’m that guy, yeah the boss of UK,” flaunting his cat-and-mouse game with the authorities.
In the track, he claims: “I’m a boss so I’ll always find a way, on the run trying to buy a diamond chain,” even boasting the Met Police “helped me escape.” The song remixes American rapper Tay-K’s original ‘The Race’, a track famous for its own real-life police evasion tale.
Violent Past Fuels Police Alarm
Boakye was jailed in July 2023 for a string of knifepoint robberies across London. Victims were threatened and forced to hand over phones and bank passcodes, which were used to steal cash.
A Met Police spokesperson said:
“We are searching for a 21-year-old man who absconded from Lewisham Hospital at around 15:05hrs on Sunday, 15 February. Daniel Boakye was in police custody at the hospital receiving medical treatment when he fled. Officers gave chase but could not detain him before he left the building. We are currently reviewing this incident to fully understand the events which unfolded. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards is aware.”
The search for DSAVV is ongoing as authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
