Murder Investigation Underway After Fatal Stabbing Outside Mosque
West Midlands Police have launched a murder probe after an 18-year-old was fatally stabbed during Ramadan celebrations outside a mosque on Oldbury Road, Smethwick.
The tragic attack occurred Friday evening, leaving the teenager dead at the scene. Two other men, aged 19 and 22, were also stabbed but their injuries are not life-threatening.
Police Hunt Suspects and Review CCTV
Officers are combing through CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing.
“We’re working to establish the full circumstances and who was involved. We’re reviewing CCTV and carrying out other enquiries in the area,” a West Midlands Police spokesperson said.
Not Being Treated as Religious or Racial Crime—For Now
Despite the attack happening outside a mosque during Ramadan, police say the incident is not currently considered religiously or racially motivated.
The victim suffered serious wounds and died despite emergency efforts. Police warn more arrests and charges are possible as investigations continue.
