A police officer was seriously hurt in Birmingham after crashing into an e-scooter rider fleeing from cops. West Midlands Police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with the incident.

High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash on Northfield High Street

At around 1.30pm yesterday, officers on patrol spotted a suspicious e-scooter rider on Northfield High Street. The teen tried to escape by darting down an alley, but officers were waiting to block his way.

Refusing to give up, the rider pulled a risky U-turn and sped straight back onto the High Street—right into the path of a PC from the Guardian Taskforce, a unit tackling stabbing and youth violence.

Officer Injured, Surgery Ahead

The collision left the officer with a fractured knee. He remains in hospital awaiting surgery.

Charges Pile Up for Scooter Rider

The 18-year-old suspect from Longbridge is now in custody. He faces charges including wounding, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for police.
