Piccadilly Line Pickpocket Nabbed in Daring Bust
A smooth pickpocket was snatched up by British Transport Police (BTP) just days after arriving in the UK. Daniel Maldonado Paulson, 35, from Southwark, targeted unsuspecting commuters on the Piccadilly Line on the evening of February 7.
Thief’s Desperate Escape Flop at South Kensington
Officers spotted Maldonado Paulson acting shifty at South Kensington station and swooped in. As they escorted him upstairs, he made a run for it – but his getaway plan was short-lived. Police quickly tackled him to the ground and slapped on the cuffs.
High-Tech Gadgets and Stolen Phone Among Seized Loot
- Maldonado Paulson, a Chilean national in the UK for just two weeks, was caught with a phone stolen just 20 minutes earlier.
- Police discovered an electronic card reader – a first in BTP’s pickpocketing cases.
- The stolen phone was back in its owner’s hands a mere two hours after the theft.
On February 13, Westminster Magistrates slammed Maldonado Paulson with a six-month jail sentence after he pleaded guilty to Handling Stolen Goods and Resisting Arrest. No warm welcome for this rookie crook!
