Hare Coursing Scumbag Busted in Birchington
Kent Police’s Rural Task Force has slammed a two-year national Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) on a man caught red-handed with dead hares and a dog in Birchington.
Public Spots Haul of Dead Hares
On Saturday 18 January 2025, vigilant members of the public raised the alarm after spotting a man carrying dead hares over his shoulder along Dane Road, Birchington. The man was with an off-lead white and brown Lurcher. Witnesses also reported a suspicious green vehicle pulling up nearby.
Police Arrest and Shocking Evidence
Officers arrived just 20 minutes after the call. The man’s clothes were stained with fresh blood, which he claimed came from an injured dog. Their search uncovered a discarded monocular hidden in a bush – the man admitted it was his. Just 10 feet from his vehicle, under a hedgerow, officers found three dead hares, clearly tied to his illegal activities.
“Hare coursing is illegal across the UK. It’s not just a harmless pastime. It’s a cruel, deliberate act against a protected species.”
