A 27-year-old has been locked up for 28 years after shooting an e-bike rider in broad daylight on a busy Hertfordshire road.

28 Years Behind Bars for Attempted Murder on A41

Hekmat Galmne, from Village Way in Pinner, was found guilty of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. The shocking attack happened on the A41 at around 5:20pm on 25 July 2024.

Daytime Shooting Linked to Earlier Park Clash

The shooting wasn’t a random act. Police say it was sparked by a confrontation just two hours earlier at a nearby park on Meriden Way at around 3:30pm. The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit launched a full investigation.

“Galmne showed complete disregard for human life and public safety,” said Detective Inspector Mark Butler. “It is only luck that no innocent people were killed or injured.”

“This sentence reflects the seriousness of his crime and sends a clear warning: anyone caught carrying or using firearms will face heavy jail time.”

Jury Rejects Defence, Slams Heavy Sentence

The jury was convinced Galmne fired the shot during the roadside confrontation and dismissed any defence claims. With clear evidence of firearm possession and violent assault, the court handed down a tough sentence.

Since this happened during rush hour on a busy main road, the risk to other road users was huge. Galmne will serve most of his 28-year sentence in a high-security prison, with parole only possible after serving a significant portion.
