Two brave firefighters from Croydon have returned home after a grueling 10-day mission battling devastating floods in Mozambique. Their heroic efforts helped save lives amid one of the worst natural disasters the country has seen.

Weeks of relentless rain triggered catastrophic floods across Mozambique, wrecking homes, smashing roads, and destroying vital health facilities. Over 4,300 miles of roads in nine provinces were damaged, leaving thousands stranded on rooftops or trapped in remote areas.

Firefighters Save Over 80 People in Peril

Sarah Mimnagh and Darren Emery joined a 36-strong British International Search and Rescue (ISAR) team on the ground. Equipped with rescue boats, drones, and specialist gear, they battled rising waters, cleared debris, and carried out daring rescues.

The team’s swift action helped save more than 80 lives, proving British grit and courage in dire conditions.
