Wild Stolen-Car Chase Ends in Crash and Jail Time for Darlington Man
Stolen Kia Sparks High-Speed Police Pursuit
Carl Hollywood, 36, was smashed into custody after a reckless chase in Darlington that nearly turned deadly. On December 9, police from the Durham Roads and Armed Policing Unit spotted Hollywood behind the wheel of a white Kia Sportage reported stolen just one day earlier.
Officers flicked on their blue lights and sirens, ordering him to stop. Hollywood ignored the commands and tore off, turning a routine stop into a dangerous pursuit.
70mph in a 30mph Zone – Chaos on Darlington’s Roads
Hollywood pushed the stolen Kia to a terrifying 70mph in a 30mph zone along McMullen Road. He weaved through traffic, forcing terrified drivers to take evasive action to avoid crashes. The mad dash came to an abrupt halt when Hollywood crashed into two parked vehicles on Tornado Way.
18 Months Inside and Nearly Four-Year Driving Ban
Facing several charges including dangerous driving, driving without a licence, no insurance, and theft, Hollywood pleaded guilty at Teesside Crown Court. On February 12, the Chilton resident was sentenced to 18 months in prison and slapped with a driving ban lasting almost four years.
