Three Elderly Men Injured in Brazen Dudley Coin Heist
Three elderly men were hurt during a daring robbery at a Dudley coin dealer’s unit on Birmingham New Road. The heist unfolded on Sunday, 8 February, at about 4.20pm.
Thieves Swipe Priceless Royal Mint Collectables
The raiders made off with a treasure trove of gold and silver coins. Their haul included boxed Royal Mint collectables, still sealed in original cases with proof of authenticity. Stolen items featured:
- Commemorative coins of John Lennon, David Bowie, Captain James Cook, Kew Gardens, and James Bond
- Silver and 22-carat gold pieces
- Full sovereign sets from 1999 through 2026
- Special silver and gold 50p sets celebrating 50 years of the 50p coin
Police Hunt Grey Mitsubishi Outlander and Thieves
West Midlands Police are urging the public to come forward if they spotted a grey or silver Mitsubishi Outlander near the scene before or after the robbery.
“The three elderly men were thankfully not seriously injured, and we are determined to catch those behind this,” said Detective Sergeant Rich Galbraith.
“If anyone is offered coins like these or has any information, no matter how small, please get in touch.”
