Two Syrian men accused of a brutal gang-rape in Düsseldorf have caused uproar by refusing a female interpreter, citing “shame” at being translated by a woman.
Brutal Attack Rocks Düsseldorf’s Historic Stiftsplatz
Saad A., 33, and Ahmed A., 40, appeared at Düsseldorf Regional Court Tuesday. They face chilling charges of gang-raping a heavily intoxicated 27-year-old woman on the hood of a parked car in the city’s Stiftsplatz on June 29, 2025. A third suspect is still on the run.
The victim was reportedly helpless and barely conscious during the savage assault at around 2:45 a.m. Despite efforts to conceal the attack, horrified witnesses saw the entire ordeal.
Witnesses Speak Out as Suspect Threatens Them
Passersby intervened and questioned the attackers. One eyewitness revealed Ahmed A. cruelly mocked the victim’s drunkenness, sneering: “She needs this.” When confronted, Ahmed A. lashed out, threatening to “commit a crime against them” too.
The court will hear powerful witness testimony and examine forensic evidence. Defence lawyers are expected to fiercely contest the charges.
