A fifth suspect has been charged in the savage killing of Leon Phillips, 47, in Bristol. Yahaye Ali, 20, from Fishponds, was locked up and faces murder and possession of a bladed weapon charges. He is due in Bristol Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday 11 February).

Brutal Attack on Stapleton Road

Leon Phillips was brutally attacked on Stapleton Road at around 10.45pm on Monday 2 February. He succumbed to his injuries the following morning in hospital.

Four More Men Already Behind Bars

Four other men have already been charged with murder and carrying a bladed weapon. They appeared in court and remain in custody:

  • Ayoob Mohamed, 18, from St Pauls
  • Muner Teclu, 20, from Easton
  • Fallou Diop, 19, no fixed address
  • Mustafa Ali, 18, from Fishponds

More Arrests Made But Some Released

A 29-year-old man detained during the probe has been released without charge. Two other men held earlier this week were also let out on bail.
