Shocking Murder-Suicide at Hamburg Metro Station
A horrifying scene unfolded last night at Hamburg’s Wandsbek Markt metro station. A 25-year-old man shoved an 18-year-old woman onto the train tracks, killing them both instantly.
Victim Was Escaping Domestic Violence
The young woman, Fatemeh “Asal” Z., originally from Iran, had fled domestic abuse and was living in a women’s refuge when the tragedy struck.
Attacker Known to Police and Drunk
The attacker, Ariop A., 25, from South Sudan, arrived in Germany in June 2024 under a UNHCR resettlement programme. Witnesses said he was heavily intoxicated when he randomly grabbed Fatemeh on the platform.
“I’m taking you with me,” Ariop reportedly told Fatemeh moments before jumping onto the tracks in front of an oncoming train.
Police Launch Full Investigation
The murder-suicide left commuters in shock. Authorities are probing the attack, with Ariop already known to police due to prior incidents.
