Crash on Herbert Avenue Leaves Baby in Critical Condition

A pregnant woman was struck by an e-bike rider in a hit-and-run on Herbert Avenue, Poole, on Monday afternoon, January 26, 2026. The rider, a 13-year-old boy, collided with the woman near the junction with Manor Avenue at around 3:50pm before speeding off.

The 30-something woman was rushed to hospital and has since given birth, but her newborn remains in a serious condition. The stunning turn of events has rocked the community.

Dorset Police quickly arrested the teenager on suspicion of a driving offence. He remains in custody as officers dig deeper into the incident.

“Our investigation is ongoing and we thank the public for their help,” said Police Sergeant Dan Yates of the Roads Policing Team. “We urge anyone with information about the incident who hasn’t spoken to police to come forward.”
