Sheppey Crossing Slammed Shut After Major Crash
A serious smash has brought the A249 Sheppey Crossing to a grinding halt. Emergency crews, including police, fire, and ambulance, raced to the scene after a collision struck late last night.
A249 Closed Both Ways – No End in Sight
National Highways confirmed the A249 is shut in both directions between the B2005 (Iwade) and the A2500 (Minster on Sea, Sheppey).
“The A249 Sheppey Crossing remains closed northbound after a serious collision just before 11:30pm,” a spokesperson said. “Kent Police are conducting complex investigations, and due to the severity, there is no estimated time for reopening.”
Drivers are warned to steer clear. Seek alternative routes now to avoid getting stuck.
Southbound Lane Partially Reopened After Lengthy Probe
Good news for southbound travellers: National Highways reported the southbound carriageway has partially reopened. However, one lane remains shut as police wrap up their investigations.
