Harrogate Horror: Man Jailed for Brutal Knife Attack

Knife Rampage Sparks Chaos in Harrogate Flat

Alexander Decker, 30, unleashed terror in his own home on December 1, 2024. After becoming agitated with his visitors, he refused to let two women leave. Armed with a large knife, Decker threatened the women and poured boiling water over one woman’s neck, leaving her with excruciating third-degree burns.

His violence escalated as he chased the group downstairs, blocked their escape, dragged a woman back inside, and then savagely stabbed a male relative multiple times. The victim suffered a collapsed lung from a grave chest wound.

Victims Suffer Serious Physical and Mental Scars

The terrifying attack left the victims with permanent injuries and scarring alongside ongoing trauma. Many suffer from anxiety, nightmares, and sleepless nights. One victim confessed they feared for their life during the ordeal.

“The offences beggar belief,” the judge said, underlining the sheer brutality and near-fatal consequences of the attack.

Decker’s Troubled Past and Prison Sentence

Decker has a history of paranoid schizophrenia and has previously been hospitalised under the Mental Health Act. On January 28, 2026, York Crown Court sentenced him to eight-and-a-half years in prison.

He is expected to serve around half of his sentence behind bars before potential release on licence.
